Meanwhile

... Chancellor Merkel and French President Nicolas Sarkozy emerged empty-handed from their Paris summit, offering nothing concrete to restore crumbling confidence in the eurozone project, writes Ambrose.

I admire his fortitude. I find it almost impossible to write about this subject any more – interminably cataloguing a slow-motion train wreck, where the engine has already left the rails and the outcome is certain. Terrible though the consequences may be, we need to get it over and done with, so that we can start picking up the wreckage.

The Daily Mail has a different "take" – reporting on a "power grab" by Merkel and Sarkozy. Frankly, I'm beyond caring – two bald men fighting over a comb syndrome.  Just get it over and done with.
